Wyandotte County Ethnic Festival This Weekend!

The 2014 WYCO Ethnic Festival will be celebrating its 9th year this year with a delicious variety of music, dancing, ethnic foods and many different ethnic booths. This is a free admission and free parking family event that will be held 11 a.m.-5 p.m. April 12 at the KCKCC Field House, 7250 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Ethnic food available for purchase.

This year's festival is destined to be filled with music, dancing and ethnic foods of more than 60 organizations in the Kansas City Kansas Community College Field House as part of the 9th annual Wyandotte County Ethnic Festival: A Human Family Reunion.

Clarence Small will once again serve as master of ceremonies, and Shawn Derritt, director of advising at KCKCC and gospel singer, will kick-off the event with the National Anthem and “America the Beautiful.”

The WYCO Ethnic Festival Committee will be honoring the two co-founders of the festival with the Legends of Diversity award: Karen Hernandez, former member of the KCKCC Board of Trustees, and Melanie Scott, professor in the social and behavioral sciences department and former director of the Intercultural Center at KCKCC.

It is planning to be an exciting event open to the public and family-oriented.
