The Broadcasters Club of Florida opens its 2013-14 season with its first luncheon on Friday, October 11th at the SaraBay Golf Club in Sarasota. WWSB-TV (Sarasota) VP and GM Jeff Benninghoff will be the featured speaker talking about the challenges of keeping viewers engaged in an era where more and more people are spending less time in front of a television set.
In addition to WWSB-TV, Jeff Benninghoff oversees the day-to-day operations of WAAY in Huntsville, AL and WTXL in Tallahassee, FL all of which are part of Calkins Media, Inc.
Benninghoff began his career with Calkins Newspapers in 1993 at The Intelligencer in Doylestown. He was promoted to controller of the Burlington Times Inc. in 1998. He later moved to Sarasota to become the controller and then station manager at WWSB. He holds a BS from La Salle University and an MBA from University of South Florida, and is a certified public accountant. He and his wife Becky and their two children Bobby and Nora live in Sarasota.
The cost of the luncheon is $20 per person for dues paid members. Dues are $20 per year. You do not need to be a member of the Broadcasters Club of Florida to attend its luncheons. Luncheon cost for non-members and guests are $22 per person.
The SaraBay Golf Club is located at 7011 Willow Street, Sarasota, FL 34243. Reservations should be made by noon on Wednesday, October 9th.
The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. and the event concludes by 2:00 p.m. Parking is free.
