According to a report yesterday by Wrestlezone, WWE has reached out to an all-star list of big name wrestling stars to appear at this Sunday’s Wrestlemania XXX which reportedly included ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, Shawn Michaels, Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, and even former ‘RAW’ broadcaster Jim Ross.

The Rock and ‘Stone Cold’ are supposedly going to appear on WM30 at the Superdome in some fashion. It’s not known exactly what their roles will be on 4 hour ‘Super Bowl of Pro Wrestling’ or whether the two legends will appear live on camera or in a pre-taped segment. WWE has not confirmed the appearance of either Austin or the Rock.

These would be huge surprise guest stars on a stadium level show which already has a lot riding on it as the first pay-per-view to air live on the new direct-from-WWE video service, WWE Network.

Most of these stars noted here are expected to attend Saturday’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony which is being held in New Orleans as part of WM30 week. Flair and Michaels are already scheduled by WWE to appear this week for autograph signings at Axxess Fan convention prior to WM30.

Pro Wrestling Examiner’s Perspective: Kudos to WWE if they can find a way to add the superstar treat of the Rock and Austin on this year’s Mania. Now should fans expect either man to be in action in the ring? No, but do not expect either man to appear on the show without a solid attempt at doing something entertaining. It really seems like the company is trying their best to make it special for fans taking in the show on the Network for the first time.
