The Undertaker versus CM Punk (with Paul Heyman)
This had a phenomenal video package to highlight the rivalry.
CM Punk and Paul Heyman were played out to the ring to “Cult of Personality” by Living Color live and in person. It was a great WrestleMania moment for Punk.
Undertaker just got his usual awesome long entrance.
Punk started with a slap and started fast with punches. Taker with a boot to face. On the outside Taker threw Punk over the barricade. Punk bounced off the Spanish Announce Table. He was then rammed back first into the ring post. Taker then with boots and his patented legdrop onto Punk on the apron.
Back in the ring, Taker with punches in the corner. Taker looked for Old School but Punk pulled him off the ropes. Punk in control with kicks and punches. Punk looked for Old School and nailed it. He then hit a Russian Leg Sweep for two. He then locked Taker in an arm lock.
With Taker on the outside Punk came off the top with a double axehandle. Back in Punk with a neckbreaker for two. Taker missed a punch and Punk hit a DDT for two.
In the middle Taker with a standard suplex for two. Punk looked for Old School again but crotched on the top rope. Taker then pushed Punk to the outside. Taker looked for his top rope suicide dive but Heyman crawled up on the apron to stop the momentum. With the distraction Punk came off with a flying clothesline for a nearfall.
Punk with knees and the Macho Man elbow off the top for two. Punk looked for GTS but Taker reversed into a chokeslam for two. Taker and Punk trade punches mid-ring. Taker with punches in the corner. Charge into the corner on Punk and then hit him with Snake Eyes. Taker came running but Punk countered with a nice kick for a two count.
Back on the outside the two men brawl. Taker looked for the Last Ride but Punk popped out and kicked Taker onto the Spanish Announce Table. Punk climbed to the top and hit the Macho elbow onto Taker on the table, which didn’t break. That had to hurt.
Punk back in and Taker just made it in by the count of 9. Punk went for a pin but Taker locked in Hells Gate. Punk reversed out of that and got a pinfall attempt and then locked in the Anaconda Vice.
Taker then powered up with rage in his eyes. Punk evaded another chokeslam and hit a quick GTS. Taker bounced off the ropes and got the Tombstone for an awesome two count. Both men trade punches on their knees. Now both men up trading punches. Taker looked for another chokeslam but the ref got bumped.
Punk with a running knee in the corner. Taker looked for the Last Ride again but Punk hit Taker in the head with the urn. Punk with the UT arms crossed pinfall cover for an awesome two count. Punk looked for GTS again, Taker with a Tombstone try, Punk with another GTS counter, Taker finally connected with the Tombstone for the pinfall.
WINNER – The Undertaker
That was a great match. It was certainly on par with some of Undertaker’s most recent performances. Well done by everyone involved. Undertaker retrieved the urn and bowed to it one last time.
