WWE Wrestlemania 29 took place on April 7 and features the biggest stars in the company battling in the promotion's biggest matches of the year. Here is a look at the WWE Wrestlemania 29 recap and results and what went down on the card. Refresh this window for live results as they happen.
The WWE Wrestlemania 29 card opened with a pre-show "Interactive" match between Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett and The Miz. The two men have been battling since they both had movies hit, The Miz with "The Marine 3" and Wade Barrett with "Dead Man Down." One was a straight to DVD release and the other a box office flop.
The match only lasted around four minutes of back and forth action until Miz caught Barrett in the figure four leg lock and Barrett tapped out. The Miz is now the new Intercontinental Champion, beating Wade Barrett in the pre-show Wrestlemania 29 match.
The first match on the actual PPV was the six-man match pitting The Shield against Randy Orton, Sheamus and The Big Show. The end came when they had Sheamus in a rough predicament but Big Show saved him. Show wanted the tag, but Randy Orton stole it, came in and ended up getting pinned by The Shield after a Roman Reigns spear. After the match, Big Show punches out both Sheamus and Orton.
Next up is Mark Henry vs. Ryback, in a match of the big men. The match was a classic big man match. Ryback actually lifted Henry onto his shoulders for the Shell Shock, but Henry grabbed the ropes and Ryback fell with Henry on top to give Mark Henry the win. After the match, Ryback got some heat back by attacking Henry and hitting the Shell Shock.
That makes the bad guys 2-0 for the actual PPV matches.
The next match is for the WWE Tag Team Championship, with Team Hell No defending their titles against Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston. Team Hell No won the match after Dolph tried to use the briefcase, but Kane hit a boot and Bryan hit the flying head butt.
Moving right along, Fandango made his in-ring debut next against Chris Jericho. The match lasted about nine minutes and ended with Fandango winning after countering the Walls of Jericho with an inside cradle.
Next up is the world championship match between Alberto Del Rio and Jack Swagger. The match lasted about ten minutes and ended after Del Rio kept making the ropes to break the Patriot Lock and then catches Swagger with the cross arm breaker for the tap out win to retain his title. Dolph Ziggler never made the run in after the match with his MITB briefcase.
In a shocking move, the Undertaker vs. CM Punk match came next, very early in the card. Living Colour played Cult of Personality live for CM Punk as he came out to the ring. In interesting trivia, Punk's tights and boots were the same color as what Undertaker wore in his first Wrestlemania appearance. The match was amazing, both men pulling out all the stops and CM Punk proving to be the best wrestler in the WWE throughout the match. CM Punk tried to put Undertaker through the Spanish announcer's table but it refused to break. Undertaker kicked out of the GTS and then Punk kicked out of the choke slam, tombstone combo. The end finally came in 22-minutes when Undertaker countered a GTS with another Tombstone and picked up the win.
The match was the best of the night, and possibly the best of the year so far.
Triple H and Brock Lesnar are up next. Triple H has Shawn Michaels in his corner and his career is on the line if he loses. This was another 22 minute match and was a complete brawl with both men just destroying each other and hitting each other with everything they could find. Lesnar hit Michaels with the F5 early in the match. The end came when Paul Heyman tried to interfere but Michaels hit him with Sweet Chin Music and then Triple H locked in the Kimura Lock three times. Lesnar gets out of it every time but then Triple H hit the DDT on the steel steps and then hit Lesnar with the sledge hammer before hitting the Pedigree on the steps for the win. Triple H does not have to retire but he had to use the steel steps and a sledge hammer to get the win, helping Lesnar remain strong.
In the main event of the evening, John Cena and The Rock battled for the WWE Championship. This is a rematch from last year when The Rock beat Cena, and John is trying to win the WWE Championship for the first time in over a year. The match went over 20 minutes, with both men using their finishing moves, only to have their opponent kick out of them. Finally, Cena was about to hit the Attitude Adjustment and put The Rock down for good to win his 11th WWE Championship.
