It looks like the short number of matches at the “TLC” pay-per-view has caused the WWE to throw in an un-promoted tag team title match. While the WWE has been trying to build some new teams in the division, PWS reported on Dec. 11 that it is Big Show and Rey Mysterio who will get the tag team title shot after teaming for two weeks now.
With teams like Curtis Axel and Ryback stacking up wins and longer tenured teams like The Usos, The Real Americans and Tons of Funk waiting in the wings, it is a brand new team that will get the match. Of course, on last week’s episode of “WWE Main Event,” Rey Mysterio and Big Show did beat The Real Americans.
At the end of the day, this is a chance for the WWE to promote one of their largest stars in Big Show and one of their most popular in Rey Mysterio on a pay-per-view. Also, the match puts them against the very popular tag team champion combination of Goldust and Cody Rhodes.
This week on “WWE Monday Night Raw,” the four men who will fight on Sunday teamed together to beat Curtis Axel, Ryback and the Real Americans, with Rey Mysterio picking up the pinfall win. That might be a good reason the team earned this tag team title shot at the “TLC” pay-per-view.
