The soon-to-be-inducted WWE Hall of Famer Ultimate Warrior is currently rumored to have a return match at the biggest show of the year Wrestlemania 30, according to a report posted Friday by f4wonline.com. If Warrior does indeed perform in this potential match, it would be special as he has not competed in WWE since 1996 and it would be his first pro wrestling match since 2008. Wrestlemania 30 airs live on pay per view from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday April 6th.
The match has not yet been confirmed or even teased on WWE TV, but Warrior’s proposed opponent in the Wrestlemania bout is said to be the monster Ryback. Late last year, Ryback was reportedly being paired with WCW star Goldberg for a comeback match in some WM30 plans. The Goldberg return engagement is said to be “dead due to money issues” according to Wrestlezone.
WWE got the wrestling world buzzing two weeks ago when they announced the Warrior’s upcoming Hall of Fame induction even though he has history of legal and personal conflicts with WWE boss Vince McMahon. The induction has had it’s critics including fellow 80’s wrestling star Jake ‘the Snake’ Roberts. Roberts badmouthed Warrior during an interview with Sirius XM radio last, only to take the comments back days later in a lengthy post on his Twitter account.
Pro Wrestling Examiner’s Perspective: Well, muscle meets muscle in a grand collision if WWE does indeed get the Warrior to come out of the from shadows and square off with the Ryback. Both men are almost inversions of each other. For comic book fans, this match-up is reminiscent to this Examiner of Superman’s battles with Bizzarro Superman, an evil regressive version of himself. No matter what, this match is not going to steal the show at the Superdome but it could definitely be a wild fun trainwreck of a match.
