According to a report published today by Variety, WWE mega-star John Cena is in talks to be cast in the latest comedy feature film from acclaimed producer and director Judd Apatow which is titled 'Trainwreck'. This would be a huge entertainment crossover opportunity for Cena who is one of the biggest stars in pro wrestling and has previously starred in several WWE produced films including 'The Marine' and '12 Rounds'. While Cena has dominated the WWE for the past decade, Apatow has dominated the comedy world with a string of blockbuster comedies including 'The 40 Year Old Virgin', 'Superbad', and both 'Anchorman' movies. Apatow is set to produce and possibly direct 'Trainwreck'.

No details on the story for 'Trainwreck' have become public, but the script is penned by comedian Amy Schumer who also stars in the hit Comedy Central series 'Inside Amy Schumer'. Schumer will also appear in the film with 'Saturday Night Live' alum Bill Hader. Comedian Mike Birbiglia, SNL actress Vanessa Bayer, Oscar nominee Barkhad Abdi and actress Tilda Swinton are also reported by Variety to be in talks to have roles in this comedy feature.

'Trainwreck' is set to be released in July 2015.

Pro Wrestling Examiner's Perspective: Cena may have one of the biggest titles of his career if he can earn a spot in an Apatow comedy. Though he has starred in his own action movies, Cena has never had a real hit at the box office. Appearing in this Apatow film, Cena could have a shot at his first major movie victory. The talent lined up for this movie looks stellar as well. It's worth noting that Amy Schumer is the former girlfriend of WWE star and avid comedy fan Dolph Ziggler.
