Last night, August 17, WWE presented the 26th annual SummerSlam pay per view, live from inside the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Here are the results.
In the online pre-show match that happened before SummerSlam went on the air, Rob Van Dam beat WWE United States Champion Dean Ambrose of The Shield by disqualification. WWE Tag Team Champions Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins of The Shield came out to support Ambrose while The Big Show and Mark Henry came out to even the sides for Van Dam. Reigns ran in the ring for the disqualification. Show and Henry made the save.
Bray Wyatt pinned Kane in a Ring of Fire match after hitting Sister Abigail. Post-match, Wyatt sat in his trademark rocking chair while Wyatt Family members Luke Harper and Erick Rowan slammed the ringside steps onto Kane’s head. They then drug a lifeless Kane backstage with them.
Cody Rhodes pinned Damian Sandow after hitting Cross Rhodes.
World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio made Christian submit to the cross armbreaker.
Post-match, Del Rio got on the mic to celebrate and claimed he would be a hero for the Latino community,
Backstage, The Miz interviewed Maria Menounos, who teamed with Natalya Neidhart earlier in the day at SummerSlam Axxess to beat Brie Bella and Eva Marie. Fandango then danced into the scene so Miz and Maria danced together in response.
Natalya Neidhart (with The Funkadactyls – Cameron & Naomi) made Brie Bella (with Nikki Bella & Eva Marie) submit to the Sharpshooter.
Brock Lesnar beat CM Punk in a No Disqualifications Match. Lesnar wore Punk out with a chair and then hit him with a F-5 onto the chair for the pinfall.
Dolph Ziggler & Kaitlyn beat Big E Langston & WWE Divas Champion in a Mixed Tag Match. Ziggler pinned Langston after escaping the Big Ending and hitting the Zig Zag.
Daniel Bryan pinned WWE Champion Cena after hitting a running knee to the head to win the WWE Championship. Triple H was the special guest referee.
Post-match, Randy Orton came out looking to cash in his WWE Title Money in the Bank contract. Bryan and Orton stared off until Triple H dropped Bryan with a Pedigree mid-ring. Orton then ran into the ring to cash in his contract and pin Bryan to become the new WWE Champion.
