In some big WWE spoilers, the main event for the next WWE pay-per-view "Battleground" was announced on this week's pre-taping of "WWE Main Event" on Sept. 17. Triple H came out and announced that the vacant WWE Championship would be decided in a match between Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan.
This comes as no real surprise.
Daniel Bryan won the WWE Championship from John Cena at "Summerslam" and Randy Orton ran in and cashed ion his Money in the Bank contract to win the title after Triple H turned on Bryan and hit him with the Pedigree.
Over the next month, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon tried to convince Bryan to just give up his dream to be WWE Champion, because they don't feel he is a good face for the company. He refused, so they had him beat down week after week, but he never gave up.
At "Night of Champions," Bryan won the WWE title again, this time by pinning Orton. However, a fast referee count made it look like Bryan cheated to win so Triple H stripped him of the belt. It seemed like Triple H would keep trying to keep the belt from Bryan, so this quick announcement seems a big strange.
"WWE Battleground" takes place on Oct. 6 from Buffalo, NY. Any stipulations to the WWE championship match remain unknown.
