WWE spoilers: Plans for Paige's NXT women's championship

When Paige came up to the WWE main roster and beat AJ Lee in her first match, it made her a duel champion. Paige has been the only woman to ever hold the NXT Women’s Championship and was the champion when she beat Lee. According to PWInsider on Thursday, the WWE will now strip Paige of her WWE NXT Women’s Championship on the WWE Network show tonight.

The angle was shot at the “WWE Monday Night Raw” taping and had NXT Commissioner JBL strip Paige of the title due to her schedule with the WWE main roster. Paige will reject the idea but then change her mind. Tonight’s WWE NXT television taping will start a new tournament to determine the next WWE NXT Women’s Champion.

Paige held the NXT Women’s Championship since June 2013 when she won the inaugural tournament to become the first title holder. In the tournament, she beat Tamina Snuka, Alicia Fox and Emma to win the title. That is ironic because Paige will defend her newly won WWE Divas Championship against Tamina Snuka at the “Extreme Rules” special event.

That first tournament from last year also included names like Bayley, Sasha Banks and Emma, all three of which will likely be in this new tournament. However, the favorite to win the WWE NXT Women’s Championship is Charlotte, the real-life daughter of “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Other competitors will be determined as soon as tonight’s episode of WWE NXT on the WWE Network.

The angle with JBL and Paige will be inserted into tonight’s NXT show. Because of the fact that WWE NXT is pre-taped, the angle will just be added to the already recorded show. Another match on tonight’s episode of WWE NXT on the WWE Network will include Sami Zayn and The Usos taking on Corey Graves and The Ascension. This is a huge match since The Usos are the WWE tag team champions and the Ascension are the NXT tag team champions.
