The WWE pre-taped WWE Friday Night Smackdown on Jan. 22 and this provided the company with their last big show heading into the big Royal Rumble pay per view this Sunday. Here is a look at the results of the final Smackdown broadcast before the Royal Rumble.
The show kicked off with Team Hell No coming to the ring. They showed the entire anger management graduation ceremony, but then Kane and Daniel Bryan began to argue over which one of them could win the Royal Rumble on Sunday.
Big Show came out and interrupted things, then the Rhodes Scholars came out and challenged Team Hell No, which finally brought out Alberto Del Rio, and Booker T set up a six man match for the main event of the show.
In the opening match, Sheamus fought Wade Barrett and beat him in just over 10 minutes. This was a rematch from their Monday Night Raw match that ended without a decision. Sheamus won with the Brogue Kick.
Next up Natalya actually won a match by making Rosa Mendes submit.
CM Punk came out next and delivered his final big promo before the WWE Championship match at the pay per view. This brought out The Rock, who ran down Punk and delivered a promo of his own. When Punk began to bad mouth the fans, The Rock ran in and the two fought, which ended with a Rock Bottom and The Rock standing tall.
In two quick matches, Randy Orton beat Drew McIntyre by disqualification when 3MB interfered, and The Miz beat Darren Young with the figure four. Antonio Cesaro was at ringside for the Miz match.
In the main event, Alberto Del Rio and Team Hell No beat Big Show and the Rhodes Scholars in an elimination match. Kane eliminated Damien Sandow. Kane was counted out after Big Show beat him down and Daniel Bryan was counted out when Big Show knocked him out. Del Rio superkicked Show and Big Show was counted out. This left Del Rio and Rhodes. Del Rio then pinned Rhodes to win the match.
After the bout, Big Show attacked Del Rio and beat him down to end the show.
WWE Friday Night Smackdown airs Friday nights at 8 p.m. EST on SyFy.
