The WWE pre-recorded their weekly WWE Smackdown television show on Jan. 15 and the card saw new world champion Alberto Del Rio in action. Here is a look at what went down at the television tapings.
The show opened with Alberto Del Rio coming down to the ring to celebrate his new world heavyweight championship. This seems like a pretty big deal since Del Rio was also the man who helped open WWE Monday Night Raw with his interaction with Big Show.
This time, it was Del Rio coming out first and then Dolph Ziggler interrupted the promo. Ziggler still holds the Money in the Bank briefcase, so he can cash it in at anytime against Del Rio. Soon, Big Show and Sheamus came out as well and Booker T set up the main event of the card - a tag team match with Del Rio and Sheamus fighting Ziggler and Show.
In the first match on the card, U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro beat former Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston.
Next up was a six-man tag team match. The World Tag Team Champions Team Hell No teamed with Randy Orton and beat the No. 1 contenders Rhodes Scholars and Wade Barrett. Orton picked up the win with an RKO on Damien Sandow, which led to Team Hell No hugging him after the match.
The Miz beat Primo next using Ric Flair's figure four as his new finishing move. In a Diva's match, new champion Kaitlyn beat Aksana.
In the main event, Del Rio and Sheamus beat Ziggler and Big Show.
WWE Smackdown airs on Friday nights at 8 p.m. EST on SyFy.
