In some WWE rumors that won’t make the WWE look very good, there has been some new revelations since the company fired Alberto Del Rio. While the incident was originally labeled as Del Rio being unprofessional and possibly slapping another WWE employee, the reason for the slap might not be so innocent. According to PWS on Friday, Del Rio might have slapped the WWE.com reporter after learning that the reporter made a racial joke about Del Rio.
The story circulating is that the WWE.com reporter was at the “WWE Smackdown” taping on Tuesday night and was in the catering area. A person was reported to have allegedly asked this person to clean off his plate and the individual joked that was “Del Rio’s job.” When Alberto Del Rio, who was born in Mexico, heard about this he sought out the person and demanded an apology. When he didn’t get one, he slapped the man and walked off while yelling.
This resulted in the WWE firing Alberto Del Rio the next day for unprofessional behavior. However, there is something very puzzling about the way that the WWE fired Del Rio. It has been known for a while that Del Rio has wanted out of the WWE since Batista returned and he was fed to the former star like he was a jobber. With the slap, it gave the WWE a chance to not only fire Del Rio, but try to bury him as well.
While most wrestlers that the WWE releases are wished the best in their future endeavors, WWE.com just posted a one paragraph story that Del Rio was fired for being unprofessional and that was it. The WWE then updated the story on Friday with two embedded tweets where they said that Alberto Del Rio was responsible for his own actions and that there is no excuse for his behavior. This is the first time in memory that the WWE has publicly tried to bury a wrestler that they just fired, making some believe it is all an angle.
