The CM Punk WWE contract finally ended last week. While it looked like the separation went off quietly, and the WWE moved Punk’s profile to the alumni section, there seems to be a lot of hard feelings by the WWE towards Punk. PWS reported on Tuesday that the WWE is actually considering filing a lawsuit against CM Punk.
The WWE had plans to push to “Wrestlemania 30” with the ideas of having CM Punk work a program with Triple H. When the WWE chose to have Batista win the Royal Rumble match and earn a WWE World Heavyweight Championship opportunity, CM Punk quit the next night right before “WWE Monday Night Raw” started. WWE rumors had it that Punk was ready to retire and all he had left on his bucket list was to headline a Wrestlemania in the main event.
With Batista in the match, CM Punk’s final goal in the WWE was seemingly spoiled. Things got interesting after that. Daniel Bryan moved into the feud with Triple H instead of CM Punk. As things moved closer to “Wrestlemania 30,” things changed so that Daniel Bryan and Triple H had a stipulation added to their match that said the winner of their match would end up in the main event of “Wrestlemania 30” in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match.
Daniel Bryan beat Triple H and then moved on to get the biggest win of his career, beating Randy Orton and Batista to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event. Looking back in hindsight, that could have been CM Punk’s moment. However, he showed no interest in returning at all. Recently, Punk married AJ Lee and he has distanced himself from the WWE and all other superstars.
At a recent event, CM Punk was interviewed and said that he had no intentions of ever returning to professional wrestling. It sounded like he was cutting a humorous promo, so it is unclear if he was serious or if his wrestling career is really finished. However, the WWE seems to feel that CM Punk’s interview mocked them when he talked about working through staph infection and concussions, and now the WWE wants to make him pay.
