The Rock beat CM Punk for the WWE Championship at the WWE Royal Rumble 2013 pay per view. Now, the question arises of where the WWE plans to go from here. According to rajah.com on Jan. 28, The Rock might end up defending his title against former champion CM Punk at the Elimination Chamber pay per view in February.
This is break from tradition for the WWE, as the Elimination Chamber normally presents two big Elimination Chamber matches, with the WWE Championship on the line in one and the World Championship on the line in the other. In 2012, CM Punk and Daniel Bryan both retained their titles in the Elimination Chamber.
However, with The Rock just returning, and still only part time as he has four movies to promote over the next four months, the WWE is considering changing their plans to remove The Rock from the dangerous Elimination Chamber match to reduce the risk of injury. There is also the fact that The Rock has never wrestled in an Elimination Chamber match before.
Plans now seem to see CM Punk get his rematch against The Rock, although there is no word on what Raw's Elimination Chamber match will be for. The stories leading to the pay per view should start on tonight's episode of WWE Monday Night Raw.
"WWE Monday Night Raw" airs at 8 p.m. EST on USA.
