UFC star Ronda Rousey has made a lot of comments about wanting to appear for the WWE in some capacity. While there have been WWE rumors that Rousey would appear at “Summerslam” for the WWE in August. 411mania reported on Sunday that the appearance won’t happen after all, and the UFC is the reason why.
According to the reports, UFC president Dana White still doesn’t want any of his fighters to be involved with the WWE by appearing on WWE programming. While White doesn’t seem to have a problem with Undertaker, CM Punk and many other WWE superstars appearing on camera in attendance at his programming events, he doesn’t want his stars to look like they are associated with the WWE.
Ever since Dana White and the UFC have been on the rise, he has refused to allow anyone to compare his product to that of the WWE. While the UFC is a legitimate sport, the WWE is an entertainment industry with pre-determined scripted endings to matches and the wrestlers pulling their punches. As a result, he doesn’t want his “legitimate” athletes associated with an entertainment fighting industry like professional wrestling.
White has also made some offhand comments recently about the WWE, specifically saying that Vince McMahon is devaluing his own company by starting the WWE Network. By giving WWE fans the chance to get more product for less money, White feels that McMahon is leaving too much money on the table and it is a risky move. When it comes to the WWE, it seems like Dana White has little nice to say.
However, when it comes to Ronda Rousey, who might be one of the most popular female fighters in the UFC right now, the WWE is something she loves. Rousey said that the WWE is a lot like doing stunt work. She said that if the chance ever came up, she would love to be a guest host or anything else, she would love to do it. Thanks to Dana White, that probably won’t happen as long as she is under contract to the UFC.
