According to a July 8 report from Cageside Seats, Sting teased on Twitter that he'll be doing something WWE-related on July 14. Sting, 55, simply tweeted the aforementioned date, without providing any further comment. Sting's tweet led to extensive speculation and rumors from the WWE Universe that he would be making a cameo on the July 14 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw. No one knows for sure what message Sting was trying to relay with his cryptic tweet, but there are several viable explanations.
The WWE 2K15 video game is coming out in October, and it has already been confirmed that Sting will be a featured star in it. Sting's tweet could have something to do with the WWE 2K15 video game, but he has not yet confirmed it. The only other explanation is that he'll be making a guest hosting appearance on the July 14 WWE Monday Night Raw episode, which will be filmed in Virginia. Realistically, it's one of those two reasons for his wacky tweet.
However, there is one more thing Sting might have up his sleeve, to throw a little curveball to pro wrestling fans. Sting might combine his WWE 2K15 appearance with a cameo on WWE Monday Night Raw, as the promotion could easily trot him out to the center of the ring for a lengthy segment where he can take to the mic to discuss the video game. Would that make sense? Absolutely. Sting is a beloved figure among pro wrestling fans, so they would love to see him walk out to the ring even if he's not competing.
Sting, a 15-time wrestling world champ, spent most of his pro wrestling career under the WCW banner. He is perhaps the most popular wrestler to have never competed for WWE. In recent years, Sting worked extensively with TNA, becoming the face of their promotion and ultimately a TNA hall of famer. However, Sting left the company in early-2014. Sting made his first appearance on a WWE-branded show in April, when he made a cameo in the Ultimate Warrior documentary.
Will Sting appear next week on WWE Monday Night Raw? The only way for fans to find out is by tuning in to the USA Network, July 14 at 8 p.m. Sting will likely be featured by the WWE in some capacity, and fans can't even rule out that he'll be competing. Even at 55 years old, he should have something left in the tank.
