WWE rumors: Sting not expected to show up at 'Raw' despite rumors

There were some serious WWE rumors last week that Sting was going to appear on “WWE Monday Night Raw” tonight. While the rumors started thanks to a post Sting made on his Twitter account, that tweet might have meant something completely different. According to PWS on Monday, Sting has not signed to appear at “WWE Monday Night Raw” tonight, but there might be a video presentation played during the show.

Before fans get too excited about the news, this Sting appearance is not likely to indicate his signing with the WWE. Instead, it will likely be about one of two projects the WWE is promoting that he will be involved with. The first is the WWE 2K15 videogame, where Sting will be a playable character. This is similar to The Ultimate Warrior last year and Brock Lesnar before that.

The second project is tomorrow’s release of the Great American Bash themed DVD. Before the WWE purchased WCW and took the pay-per-view as their own, the Great American Bash was a huge WCW pay-per-view event that took place every July. Sting played a major role in the Great American Bash throughout its history and is front and center on the DVD cover.

There is also a DVD coming out in September called “Sting: The Ultimate Collection” and the WWE will likely start promoting it soon. This is the first DVD produced by the WWE that highlights the career of Sting. The most popular star in WCW history is also one of the only wrestlers to never sign a deal to work with the WWE, choosing to instead sit out after WWE purchased WCW rather than change companies.

With all the WWE rumors that Sting might be appearing on “WWE Monday Night Raw” tonight, the truth is that he likely won’t be on the show. Seeing Sting in a video package could be just as big for fans at home, but those in attendance should not get their hopes up that Sting will step into a WWE ring for the first time on tonight’s show.
