The original Sin Cara is popular Mexican wrestling star Mistico, but the man under the mask last night was Hunico, a low-card wrestler who usually wrestles in matches with his tag team partner Camacho. Fans at the event in Oklahoma City said it looked like Sin Cara had put on weight and had a new tattoo. When it was learned Hunico was under the mask, it all made sense.
Mistico is still in Mexico, and while it may make the WWE look bad, he actually tweeted a message from Mexico while eating at a restaurant during “WWE Monday Night Raw,” proving that the man under the mask was not him.
It also looks like Mistico will not be resigned by the WWE when his contract ends. While he is still able to wrestle anywhere in the world as Mistico, the WWE owns the name Sin Cara and since the character sells so much merchandise, the WWE is expected to just recast the role and continue using the character, possibly with Hunico remaining under the mask.
