Former NFL star Shawne Merriman tweeted out some photos of him training at the WWE Performance Center. According to PWInsider on Oct. 25, despite these photos, Merriman has no contract or deal offered to him by the WWE.
According to sources, Merriman was at the WWE Performance Center for a few days to work out and try-out for the WWE. In his tweets of his photographs, which included what looked like nasty rug burns on his lower back, he said it was day one with one year of training to go.
WWE trainer Bill DeMott admitted that Merriman had been working out at the WWE Performance Center.
Merriman had a successful career in the NFL, playing for the San Diego Chargers and Buffalo Bills, and while he has not officially retired from football, it seems like he is ready to make his next step in his career. It seems he wants that step to be into the WWE.
Merriman has been controversial over his career in the NFL and could parlay that into a villainous role in the WWE. In the past, Merriman and WWE star CM Punk have had a contemptuous relationship on Twitter. However, his talk of one year might be the case of the WWE letting him know he was still raw and might be a year of intense training off from a legitimate opportunity with the company.
