Now that Brock Lesnar is signed to a new two-year deal, the WWE is working on storylines for the big man and one of those involves The Rock. According to PWS on Feb. 15, the WWE wants Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock to headline Summerslam 2013.
Apparently, there was some thought on putting the two men into a match at Wrestlemania this year, but since Lesnar did not sign his extension until recently, the WWE went with the smarter Rock vs. John Cena main event for the WWE Championship. There is no word on who Lesnar will fight, although smart money would be on Triple H.
Lesnar made his return to TV by attacking Vince McMahon and dropping him with the F-5 before McMahon could fire Paul Heyman. This story looks to tie into Lesnar's last WWE match, where he beat McMahon's son-in-law Triple H. This would be a revenge match for Triple H and a rematch as well.
The Rock will head into Wrestlemania against John Cena, and good money points to Cena winning the WWE Championship back at the event, evening up the series between the two stars. That then opens up a chance for The Rock and Brock Lesnar to begin a feud.
With both men working limited engagement contracts, they would presumably be on and off TV until the lead in to Summerslam where they would then go hard and heavy against each other. The two men feuded when they were both full time stars as well, as Lesnar was the man who ended Rock's last WWE title reign over ten years ago.
The WWE believes that a Rock vs. Brock Lesnar match would bring in huge Hollywood and mainstream appeal to their second biggest pay per view of the year in Summerslam.
