WWE rumors: Ric Flair WWE return to be as ‘Raw’ general manager

The WWE held a major house show on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden and pulled out all the stops. Making their big WWE returns at the house show were “Nature Boy” Ric Flair and Mark Henry. However, the way they made their return makes it look like the Ric Flair WWE return will bring him back as some sort of authority figure.

The Ric Flair returned happened during a match between WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena and Bray Wyatt. The match ended up as a lumberjack match and the two men who chose the lumberjacks were Triple H and Ric Flair. Triple H chose WWE villains to be his lumberjack choices while Flair chose fan favorites to be his lumberjack choices. That is when Mark Henry made his return, as one of Flair’s lumberjacks.

The match ended up seeing Henry turn heel and attacking John Cena, sending him into the ring post. However, Cena ended up prevailing and winning the match anyway. Ric Flair and Bray Wyatt ended up getting into a fight during the match and Flair busted open Wyatt with what looked like an errant punch as the two battled. Wyatt ended up getting the better of Flair, who escaped the ring while Triple H looked on.

The first thing to take out of this situation is that what happens at house shows do not always mimic what happens on WWE live television storylines. Sometimes wrestlers will face off on house shows as a sort of practice run before they end up having a big televised match. Other times, random situations occur that never plays out on television. This could be one of those situations.

However, the Ric Flair WWE return is scheduled to take place this week on “WWE Monday Night Raw.” While many thought Flair was returning as a manager, if Ric Flair and Triple H were against each other at the Madison Square Garden house show, maybe they are thinking of bringing Flair back as an authority figure to counterbalance Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. “WWE Monday Night Raw” airs every Monday night at 8 p.m. EST.
