With Jack Swagger's recent arrest for charges of DUI and marijuana possession, the WWE has a tough decision to make. According to rajah.com on Feb. 22, Swagger was scheduled to win the world championship at Wrestlemania, a plan that the WWE may now have to change.
With Swagger not only picking up heat at the WWE events for his new racially motivated angle, he is also getting a lot of publicity in the real world. Tea Party proponents believe that Swagger and his manager Zeb Colter's comments about illegal immigrants ruining America is a way of making fun of their platform. The two use the quote "Don’t Tread on Me" that the Tea Party adopted, but existed for many years before they took it for themselves.
Glenn Beck also attacked the "stupid" WWE wrestlers for making light of the Tea Party's agenda. The WWE responded by inviting Beck to come to "WWE Monday Night Raw" and air his grievances about their fictional storylines. They might want to rescind that invitation.
Swagger's arrest puts the WWE in a tough spot. They have been tough on drug use in the past, suspending names like Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio and R-Truth for failed drug tests. The WWE policy ranks getting arrested for a drug charge in the same punishment category. If they follow through, Swagger will be suspended until right before Wrestlemania, giving them no time to properly build the angle.
One would think the WWE would not give the world title to someone at their biggest show of the year just as they come off a suspension for doing something very stupid. Swagger would have made around $250,000 for the WWE match at Wrestlemania. There is a good chance he just flushed that money, and his golden ticket, away.
If Jack Swagger is pulled from Wrestlemania, Dolph Ziggler might be ready to step up for his world title opportunity.
