WWE rumors: NXT crowns new tag team champions

Rajah.com reported on Feb. 1 that the WWE just finished a tag team tournament to crown their first ever NXT tag team champions.

While most mainstream wrestling fans knew little about the NXT developmental territory, the arrival of The Shield and recent surprise appearance of new star Bo Dallas is making the smaller WWE promotion much more popular. Big E Langston, the bodyguard for AJ Lee, is currently the NXT Champion.

The promotion chose to crown their own tag team champions, which makes sense because the wrestlers there need to learn all the aspects of the WWE, and that includes tag team wrestling. Maybe if they build a tag team division in NXT, that will carry over the help improve the tag team wrestling in the WWE itself.

The tournament ended at the television tapings on Jan. 31, and the finals saw the team of Adrian Neville and Oliver Grey beat The Wyatt Family to become the first ever NXT tag champs. Neville is a new WWE signee and used to wrestle on the independent wrestling scene as PAC, whose nickname is "The Man That Gravity Forgot," thanks to his incredible high flying move set.

Fans that get NXT on television can see the tag team finals on the Feb. 13 episode of the show.
