After WWE rumors said El Generico was signing with the company for a few weeks now, the generic Luchador finally signed his contract to join the promotion. According to PWInsider.com on Jan. 30, Generico only needs a required medical exam to make his contract official.
El Generico joins other big name independent wrestlers joining the WWE, a priority for Triple H recently. Until last weekend, the biggest of these was CM Punk, who held the WWE Championship longer than anyone since the '80s. Other big names from the independent scene include tag team champion Daniel Bryan, U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro and two of the three members of The Shield.
Already in the developmental area, waiting their call-up, is Adam Neville (Pac) and Kassius Ohno (Chris Hero).
El Generico was last seen in Ring of Honor, where he challenged Kevin Steen for the ROH World Championship at "Final Battle 2013." He is a two-time Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion, five time Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Champion, one-time Ring of Honor Television Champion and one-time Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champion.
His gimmick is that of a lanky white Mexican Luchador wrestler and his finishing move is a brain buster onto the top turnbuckle called the "Brainbustaaaaahhhhh!!!!!"
El Generico will report to WWE developmental in February to begin his training. It is not known if he will be allowed to keep his gimmick or will undergo a character transformation.
