WWE rumors: Dave Bautista up for role in Marvel Comics movie

Former WWE superstar Dave Bautista has started to carve a nice career out for himself in Hollywood. It might get even better as Renegade Cinema reported on March 1 that Bautista is up for a major role in the Marvel Comics movie "Guardians of the Galaxy."

The site reports that Marvel is trying to decide between two actors, Jason Momoa from "Conan the Barbarian" and Bautista for the role of hero Drax the Destroyer, the muscle of the super powered team. Last week, sources indicated Momoa won the role after he read for it, but now it turns out that he wants more money and is holding out for a better deal.

That might be a mistake, because at least half the decision makers want Bautista for the role.

Drax was a human who was murdered, along with his wife and child, by the evil Thanos (the bad guy from the end of "The Avengers"). Thanos' father brought him back to life, put his spirit into the body of a large, super powered being, and sent him after Thanos to stop the evil mastermind.

Bautista has appeared in a number of movies since leaving the WWE. He will next be seen in the Vin Diesel sequel "Riddick" and most recently appeared in "The Man with the Iron Fists."
