WWE rumors: Brock Lesnar and Chris Jericho sign new contracts

Among the fallout from the WWE Royal Rumble, PWInsider reported on Jan. 28 that the WWE has come to contract terms with both Brock Lesnar and Chris Jericho.

Jericho was a surprise addition to the Royal Rumble, the second man in the ring facing off with Dolph Ziggler. Both men lasted until the final ten before getting eliminated, which kept them in the match for around 50 minutes. The WWE kept Jericho a secret by hiding him out in a bus in the parking lot until it was time to bring him in.

Jericho tweeted that he fooled the fans by claiming he was not coming back and then called it one of the best nights of his career by lasting 47:53 in the Royal Rumble. He then said that he has been rehired and will make Dolph Ziggler's life a living hell.

Jericho's deal is a short-term deal through Wrestlemania 29.

Brock Lesnar's deal is even bigger. His contract ended at Wrestlemania 29, where he is expected to fight Triple H. The WWE wanted to re-sign him, but thought he might wait until the last minute. However, they signed the deal yesterday and the new deal is a two-year extension, keeping him in the company until Wrestlemania 31.

This should allow WWE writers to develop new storylines for Lesnar, which might start on WWE Monday Night Raw tonight as Vince McMahon gives Lesnar's manager Paul Heyman a "performance review."

WWE Monday Night Raw airs at 8 p.m. EST on USA.
