The Batista WWE return was supposed to be a big surprise, but some advertising for house shows including the big man spoiled the surprise. While the WWE is trying to get all the ads removed, the word is out that Batista is coming back very soon. According to PWS on Dec. 23, early plans even called on Batista to win the Royal Rumble match and get the world title shot at "Wrestlemania 30."
The idea of Batista coming back after a multi-year absence and immediately getting the main event at "Wrestlemania 30" seems unfair to men who have busted their butts full time in the WWE over the last couple of years - specifically CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, not to mention John Cena.
However, the ideas early on is to see CM Punk and Triple H battle at "Wrestlemania 30," which would easily be the secondary main event, while Daniel Bryan might finally get Shawn Michaels to come out of retirement for a big match. As for John Cena, a shot at Undertaker's streak is a possibility.
More likely though is the thought that Batista will return at the Royal Rumble, but not win it, and then go on to possibly be the opponent for Undertaker at this year's "Wrestlemania 30," or possibly see the set up for a Batista vs. Brock Lesnar match as a special attraction.
The new Batista WWE contract looks like it will be close to full time, including appearances on "Raw," "Smackdown" and pay-per-view events. It looks like he will remain with the company on a full time basis until he starts promotion for Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" in August.
