The latest WWE rumors for the big Batista return is that he is not coming back for a short term deal but is returning for a two year run with the company. According to PWS on Dec. 28, the return is a deal that will give him a "final run" in the WWE.
Originally, the thought was that Batista was returning in time for the "Royal Rumble" pay-per-view in January, which would lead to a match at "Wrestlemania 30." After the news that Batista was returning was spoiled by early advertising, the WWE chose to announce his return on last week's episode of "WWE Monday Night Raw."
The rumors about his return after that were that he was coming back for the "Raw" before the "Royal Rumble" to announce he was entering it and then there were two angles that could play out from there. The first was that Batista would win the Royal Rumble and fight Randy Orton at "Wrestlemania 30." The second was that Batista would have a great performance in the Rumble match and then maybe go on to fight Undertaker at "Wrestlemania 30."
Batista was also planning to stick around the WWE after "Wrestlemania 30" until he started his promotional tour for Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," where he plays superhero Drax the Destroyer.
Now, the word is that the deal will last for two years, which will give him a couple of "Wrestlemania" appearances before it is all said and done. It is unclear if this will be similar to the Brock Lesnar deal, where he shows up for certain pay-per-views and disappears for the rest of the year. Batista is still scheduled to take off from the WWE over part of the summer to promote his new movie.
