Originally, the WWE was planning to just suspend Alberto Del Rio until after Summerslam, but when the employee threatened to sue the company, they had little choice but to fire Del Rio instead. It was Triple H who had to let Del Rio go and the Mexican star was said to be furious. What is even more disturbing is that sources say that the WWE rumors about the racial insults were accurate.

The employee that Alberto Del Rio slapped was Cody Barbierri, the manager of social media employees for the WWE. This is another disturbing aspect of the entire case. Most of the time, when the WWE terminates a wrestler, they wish the employee well with their future endeavors and takes the high road. In this case, the WWE website said that Del Rio was fired for unprofessional behavior and then the WWE Twitter account blasted Del Rio, saying it was all his fault.

If Barbierri is the victim, and he is the head of the social media employees, it seems that he was lashing out at Alberto Del Rio personally online, a very unprofessional stance for the WWE. The Triple H Twitter account then re-tweeted the original tweets blaming Del Rio, and since many of the WWE superstar's social media accounts is controlled by the WWE, that is also suspicious.

At the end of the day, there is a manager in the WWE who has been accused to making racially insensitive jokes towards an international superstar, something that flies in the face of the WWE’s anti-bullying campaign. There is also the case that the slap that Alberto Del Rio delivered was too severe, as he allegedly knocked Barbierri to the ground. At the moment, Barbierri still has a job and Del Rio is heading to AAA, which he says will be his new home.
