There have been some WWE rumors this week that indicated that the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony would include something different this year. Rajah.com reported on Jan. 15 that Rowdy Roddy Piper pretty much confirmed that the company will induct an actual wrestling match into the WWE Hall of Fame.
The WWE rumors indicated that the WWE would induct the main event from the first "Wrestlemania" into the WWE Hall of Fame. That match saw Hulk Hogan team up with television star Mr. T to battle Rowdy Roddy Piper and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff. That match proved that "Wrestlemania" was a huge cross-over event thanks to the inclusion of Mr. T as well as musician Cyndi Lauper as well.
There are a lot of matches that could be up for inclusion in the future if the fans take to the idea as well. Two different matches from "Wrestlemania 3," Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant and Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat, would be a good place to start.
There is still no word on whether all the men in the match would get a Hall of Fame ring for the match, and if so, would some wrestlers end up with 10 or more rings over time, diluting the significance of having one. There is also the question of whether or not Mr. T will agree to show up.
The WWE have tried reaching out to Mr. T in the past about coming back for an appearance or event, and he has rejected them up until now. However, with Roddy Piper clarifying that the idea is legitimate, that opens the door for matches in the future. What other matches would fans like to see inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame?
