As of Tuesday, WWE rumors for early 2014 are swirling on the internet about CM Punk leaving WWE before WrestleMania 30 takes place in New Orleans. The latest news comes as it's been reported that Punk told his bosses he was "going home" and didn't appear on a recent episode of Raw after wrestling the night before in the 2014 Royal Rumble.
According to Inquisitr.com on Jan. 29, Punk has expressed his frustration with the WWE company due to the recent return of former champion Batista. Batista went on to win the Royal Rumble, which means he will headline WrestleMania in April. Punk was the first entrant in the match and survived until about the final four competitors in the match, which involved throwing out opponents over the top rope until one man out of the thirty entrants was left. Punk was eliminated by "Corporate Kane," part of The Authority which consists of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. It appeared that was setting up Punk vs. Kane as a future match.
However, Punk tweeted to fans on Monday morning ahead of the latest news of his leaving WWE:
"Thanks for all the support. Keep being you guys, it’s pretty cool."
Reports indicate, from sources such as CBS Local Philly, that Punk had a run-in with WWE chairman Vince McMahon on Monday night, leading to the decision for him to go home and the company to cancel his upcoming live show schedule. Punk apparently told McMahon he wouldn’t be part of the latest live TV show because he was going home instead. Punk, real name Phillip Jack Brooks, was rumored to be heading towards a WrestleMania match against legend Triple H, due to recent events on TV and at the Royal Rumble.
It’s been noted that Punk’s contract was going to expire in July of this year, which is months after the WrestleMania pay-per-view in April. There’s also a pay-per-view, the Elimination Chamber, scheduled for February, but as of this report, it doesn’t look good for Punk to participate in either event. Punk has reportedly been involved in plenty of backstage arguments and frustration with management. Fans have also expressed recent frustration over the lack of WWE giving newer stars, namely CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, more headline matches at pay-per-views, and title reigns.
WWE fans, do you think this is the last of CM Punk with the pro wrestling company? If so, where will he end up next?
