WWE Royal Rumble 2013: Surprise entrants for the event

The WWE Royal Rumble takes place tonight and on Jan. 27, WrestleZone.com revealed some of the surprise entrants for the big Royal Rumble battle royal. Here is a look at who is and who isn't planning to compete in the Royal Rumble match tonight.

The first person planning to compete in the match is NXT star Bo Dallas. NXT held a tournament to determine which of their stars would appear in the event and Dallas won the finals at the WWE Fan Fest this weekend for the spot. Dallas is the son of former WWE star Mike "IRS" Rotundo.

It is also rumored that this is not a one-shot deal and Rotundo will stay with the main roster after the Royal Rumble as well. Other former NXT stars, The Shield, will also take part in the Royal Rumble, as Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns are all supposed to be entrants.

One of the fun aspects of the Royal Rumble is seeing older stars make their surprise returns to the event. Booker T and Kevin Nash both returned to the WWE after their big ovations at the event in the past. This year, four former superstars have reportedly been seen in Phoenix, where the Royal Rumble will take place.

These names are not guaranteed to appear, but are in town and could be a possibility. Chris Masters, Shane "Hurricane" Helms, Carlito and Shelton Benjamin are all in the area. The only name that was expected was Shelton, who Ring of Honor allowed out of his contract to attempt to re-sign with the WWE.

One name that won't be there is Diamond Dallas Page. The WWE reached out to Page about taking part, but their negotiations fell through and, as of right now, he won't appear at the show tonight.
