WWE Royal Rumble 2014 rumors: Winner predictions include Batista, Brock Lesnar

The WWE Royal Rumble 2014 rumors are continuing to pile up as wrestler returns are taking place, promos are unfolding, and new stories are starting to heat up. Among those who are part of the Royal Rumble predictions for the match winners are Batista, Daniel Bryan, Brock Lesnar and CM Punk, heading into the epic first pay-per-view of the new year.

According to a Jan. 7 report from Sky Sports, an episode of “Old School” Monday Night Raw took place a night ago featured a ton of big events taking place before the show ended in Baltimore, Maryland. For many fans, the biggest spot of the night featured Jake “The Snake” Roberts making his return to WWE in classic form as he brought his trademark bag with him to the ring and dumped out a snake on top of The Shield’s Dean Ambrose. Prior to that, Roman Reigns defeated CM Punk in a solo match with Seth Rollins, Ambrose and The New Age Outlaws at ringside. There’s been a teased dissension amongst The Shield for a while now, with Punk battling each guy one-on-one. Reigns was the only one of the three to defeat Punk by himself, hinting at a possible face turn. Both of these events -- Roberts' return to WWE and Reigns' big win, may point to a Rumble return for Jake and Reigns or Punk as the winner.

There’s several other events which continued to play out on Monday's episode of Raw that look like possible catalysts for a Rumble match winner at the end of the month. One is Daniel Bryan joining The Wyatt Family and already having issues with Rowan and Harper. During a tag match he was slapped on the back by one of the two, which led to some backstage discussion by Bryan, asking them to let him be involved more so he can learn from them. Bray Wyatt stepped forward to let Bryan know he’ll team with him next week in the ring. Will Bray use it as a “learning experiment” to let Bryan suffer a loss on his own, or will more tension mount?

There’s also the return of Batista, which didn’t necessarily get a lot of treatment other than promos and wrestlers mentioning his return on Raw. One guy was Alberto Del Rio, who after defeating Sin Cara, promised to defeat Batista and win the Rumble match. So there’s at least two names entered in the match. Brock Lesnar is another entry, and it’s looking like probably Mark Henry and Big Show will be in the match as well. Big Show stepped up last night and tossed Lesnar around the ring, right after Lesnar snapped Mark Henry’s arm. Of course, this may lead to Lesnar doing some damage to Show, or the two eliminating each other in the Rumble.

With all that said, it’s looking like several guys are going to be in the Rumble, and there’s some early frontrunners to win the match, as mentioned above. Many believe Batista’s return will propel him into main event status. However, there’s so many different superstars he could be paired with at WrestleMania 30, it’s compelling to think of the possibilities. Will Batista and Lesnar be the final two men in the ring? That’s certainly a possibility.

There’s two other interesting scenarios, such as a final four of CM Punk and The Shield, which leads to Reigns eliminating one of his partners, or vice versa, and then Punk winning the match. There could also be a final four of Daniel Bryan and The Wyatt Family, with Bray telling Bryan to eliminate himself, and the crowd’s “YES” chants proving too strong for the brainwashing tactics of Wyatt. That would leave Daniel Bryan as the man heading to WrestleMania 30 to face the champion.

So make your selections now, will it be Batista, Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, or someone else winning this year’s Rumble?
