WWE Royal Rumble 2013 Spoiler! Two former WWE stars set to return in the Rumble

The following story is a big spoiler for a surprise on this Sunday’s Royal Rumble, so do not read it if you want to be surprised.

According to PWINSIDER, two former WWE wrestlers are confirmed to make a return in tomorrow night’s Royal Rumble match on Pay Per View. Two former Intercontinental Champions Shelton Benjamin and Carlito are set to compete in the 30-man over-the-top rope elimination classic.

Benjamin has been rumored for weeks to be a participant in the 2013 Rumble, after leaving the company in 2011. In the meantime, Benjamin has been active with Ring of Honor Wrestling where he captured the ROH World Tag Team Championship with his longtime partner Charlie Haas. The Gold Standard Superstar has also been wrestling in New Japan Pro Wrestling, recently competing against Masato Tanaka at the world famous Tokyo Dome.

Carlito comes back to WWE after being released by the company in 2010 over a dispute about him reportedly failing a drug test and refusing to attend a rehabilitation program. This former WWE Tag Team Champion kept busy in the last two years, where he competed his father’s promotion, WWC back in Puerto Rico. He has also toured Europe where has wrestled for England’s 1PW.

At this time, it is unclear if WWE will have Carlito and Benjamin rejoin the roster on a fulltime basis. WWE has had several past names and Hall of Famers participate in the Rumble match to shake up the 30-man match, but not having those names come back to a RAW and Smackdown on a weekly basis. Former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam who left WWE in 2007, made cameos in the Rumble before signing with WWE”s rival TNA Wrestling.
