The WWE Royal Rumble 2012 results have recently been decided with Alex Riley of Fairfax Station, Virginia among the competitors in the match. Unfortunately for Riley, he was the second entry in the match, and the first elimination, as his former mentor, The Miz, managed to toss him out of the ring.
The Rumble match featured 28 other competitors vying for the win, as the winner was guaranteed a championship match at Wrestlemania 28 in Miami. Among the major stars in this year's match were Mick Foley, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Booker T, Big Show, Randy Orton, Chris Jericho and Sheamus. Other surprise entrants included WWE diva Kharma, former star the Road Dogg, and commentator Michael Cole. The Great Khali also made his surprise return to eliminate Jinder Mahal.
The Royal Rumble match came down to a final four of Randy Orton, Sheamus, Big Show and Chris Jericho. All four were considered heavy favorites heading into the event, with many believing Jericho would be the winner. It came down to him and Sheamus battling in the final moments, with each man nearly eliminating the other. However, a Brogue Kick from Sheamus was enough to knock Jericho off the apron and gave The Celtic Warrior the big victory. He'll now get a championship match on April 1st at Wrestlemania.
Other matches saw Kane and John Cena battle to a countout, with Kane then continuing the fight backstage until he found Zack Ryder, brought him to the ring, and hit a Tombstone to lay him out. CM Punk managed to win his match against Dolph Ziggler, as John Laurinaitis decided to call in a real referee and stay out of the match for the most part. Also, Daniel Bryan was able to escape the steel cage after breaking free from Big Show, allowing Bryan to retain the World Championship.
The Royal Rumble 2012 results aired on Pay-Per-View Sunday night for Roanoke wrestling fans via Cox Cable, DISH Network, DirecTV and via WWE's live streaming video feed online. Replays will be shown on Pay-Per-View as the week continues.
