WWE releases Trent Barreta, more could follow

There has been an uneasy feeling around the WWE locker room as of late, mostly due to not knowing whether the company would proceed with their annual spring cleaning of the roster. Unfortunately for Trent Barreta, he got his answer on Friday afternoon.

Baretta, who has been with the company since 2008, was released from his contract and more could be on the way. After receiving the news, he took to his Twitter page and thanked the WWE:

So fired right now. Just wanna say thanks to everyone. WWE, all the good brothers, and fans. Thanks.

Trent had been working at the company's developmental promtion, NXT (formerly FCW Wrestling) in Florida, but had not been seen much since November. He was originally the one-time partner of Caylen Croft.

Many of the lower-card talents are said to be on edge about their jobs, and this release could just be the beginning. It could very well be a long weekend for some members of the roster.
