WWE celebrates tonight on USA Network with "RAW Christmas", a holiday themed episode featuring a battle between two Santa Clauses, a 6-man tag team main event, and much more. This episode was taped last week in Austin, Texas so below you can a look at all the matches on tonight's show with no spoilers. For a holiday show, this week's RAW has a fairly strong card on paper. Pro Wrestling Examiner breaks down all the matches on this special holiday show
1) 12-Diva Jingle Bells Match
Team Total Divas vs. Team AJ Lee
This match should be the usual seasonal display of white fur red velvet form-fitting outfits that the WWE ladies sport this time of year. Now it will be interesting to once again to see the very green divas Eva Marie and JoJo work in this match. There limited in-ring talented has been seen on the E! Network reality show 'Total Divas' so they should be protected here in a similar way as they were in a elimination tag team match at Survivor Series in November. WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee has talked a mountain trash about the 'Total Divas' so this may be another opportunity for them to put the boots to the pint-size villain at the top of the women's division.
(2) Sin Cara vs. Curtis Axel
The new Sin Cara whose being played by a wrestler that WWE fans knew as Huncio is pretty much playing the role in same fashion as his predecessor who Mexican wrestling fans would know as Mistico. Look for this new Sin Cara to have more fluid matches with the WWE roster and maybe even cut a promo in English in the near future.
(3) Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan & Goldust vs. The Wyatt Family
This Examniner sees this as the match of the night on paper with all of the players involved. Goldust's comeback with his brother Cody as the WWE Tag Team Champions is one of the best stories of the year. At his extended age, Goldy still goes out and busts his hump putting on some of the best work of his twenty plus year career recently. Daniel Bryan has a score to settle with the weirdos from the swamp, the Wyatts. After getting slammed on concert on Smackdown, the biggest underdog in the WWE is going off all three of these bearded galoots. The Wyatts could really raise their stock here with a win and maybe even a Tag Team title shot down the line.
(4) Intercontinental Championship #1 Contender's Match
Dolph Ziggler vs. Fandango
This match is really interesting as it features two mid-card players who had some periods of big success in 2013 before cooling down in the second half of the year. Ziggler won the World Heavyweight Champion on a successful Money in the Bank cash-in, only to lose it on his first match back after a concussion injury. Fandango had a long drawn out introduction, teasing his debut match week after week. Former WWE World Champion Chris Jericho got under Dango's dancing skin for a match at Wrestlemania 29, only to be upset. Yet after a huge Wrestlemania win in his debut match, Fandango fizzled down the card. Both these guys are in a match here that could really dictate their status on the road to Wrestlemania which starts in January.
(5) The Usos vs. The Prime Time Players
Similar to the Ziggler/Fandango match, this bout could easily see the winner get a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championships. Part of the resurgence in WWE tag teams, PTP and the Usos are high energy babyfaces so it will be interesting to see the who the crowd favors more.
(6) Battle to Save Christmas
"Bad Santa" Damien Sandow vs. "Good Santa" Mark Henry
Separate vignettes last week on RAW with both the Good and Bad Santa teasing this "battle for yuletide supremacy" should be taken for what they are worth: a one-off comedy match for the younger fans watching at home to enjoy. Do not expect a Match of the Year candidate here, but look for Sandow to try scrooge his way to victory only for the World's Strongest Man to save Christmas in the process.
(7) The Real Americans vs. Los Matadores
This match was teased in the past few weeks with Real Americans right-wing zealot manager Zeb Colter questioning if the Matadores were citizens and mocking the Matadore's lovable mascot El Tortio. The Matadores are high flying fast-paced act who should blend with the savage power of Antonio Cesaro and Jack Swagger. The spot to look for in this match is if El Torito takes a spin on Cesaro's giant swing.
(8) Ryback vs. Kofi Kingston
Ryback has really fallen off the momentum he built up in late 2012 and early 2013 when he was in main event match-ups on pay per views and getting WWE Championship title shots. Now the 'Feed Me More' monster is playing a dull heel villain. Kofi Kingston on the other end here is almost always permanent mid-card performer for WWE. Kingston still has excitement in his matches, so maybe his reliable athleticism and Ryback's freakish power could produce here.
The Shield vs. CM Punk, Big E Langston & John Cena
This main event RAW match follows up on a 6-man battle on this past Friday's Smackdown on SyFy in which Cena and Punk were set to team with Daniel Bryan to take on the Shield. Before the match, Bryan was attacked by the evil trio known as the Wyatt Family. Cena and Punk went it alone before the match broke down into chaos near the end with Cena taking a triple bomb from the Shield, before WWE Intercontinental Champion Big E Langston came rushing in to clear house and save the day. It will be interesting to see Big E shine tonight with two major stars in Punk and Cena. No matter what it will be hard for this 6-Man Tag to top the barn-burner that Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton put on last week in a main event WWE Championship match. Check out the closing moments of that match in the video posted at the top of the page.
