The long time employer of William "Paul Bearer" Moody has released a two minute tribute video of the deceased performer. The WWE produced video features superstars Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. It opens and closes with WWE head honcho Vince McMahon. The video can be seen to the left of the articles.
Bearer died on Tuesday after feeling under the weather for the last week. At his last public appearance, the former manager of the Undertaker told friends that he was fighting a respiratory infection. He had attended the Gulf Coast Wrestler Reunion in Mobile, Alabama. He did attend the reunion in a wheelchair, as he was in a weak state. It was later revealed that Paul Bearer died of an appearant blood clot. The rotund mortician, whose shrieking voice was often impersonated by superstars and fans alike, had been battling obesity and diabetes for years.
Bearer was a journeyman in the world of professional wrestling. He worked for several smaller wrestling companies before getting his big break in December 1990. As the manager of the Undertaker, Bearer worked with legends such as Hulk Hogan, "Macho Man" Randy Savage and the "Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels. He appeared at several pay per views, including the grandiose Wrestlemania events. Bearer's last appearance for the WWE came last year, when he appeared in a skit with his on-screen son "Kane."
According to sources, there was a last minute push to induct Paul Bearer into this year's Hall of Fame. Regardless of when he enters, there is no doubt that he belongs. A memorable character with a lasting legacy.
