After “WWE Smackdown” on Aug 23, the main event of the upcoming “WWE Night of Champions” pay-per-view has been set. The card will see Daniel Bryan challenge Randy Orton for the WWE Championship in a rematch after Orton cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase at “SummerSlam.”
Daniel Bryan won the title from John Cena cleanly at “SummerSlam,” only to have Triple H turn on him and drop him with the Pedigree before allowing Randy Orton to cash in and win the belt. With that match set, here is a look at the other WWE rumors for matches for “Night of Champions,” where all the titles are on the line.
The world championship match will see Rob Van Dam challenge Alberto Del Rio for the title. Their feud is heating up with Ricardo Rodriquez joining RVD after Del Rio beat him up and fired him.
The tag team titles will be on the line with Mark Henry and Big Show challenging The Shield members of Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns for the straps. The WWE rumors have indicated that the company plans to start to de-push The Shield, and this should start that movement.
Shield member Dean Ambrose will put his U.S. title on the line, and his rumored opponent will be Dolph Ziggler. While that is just a rumor right now, the CM Punk vs. Curtis Axel match for the IC title will almost definitely happen as Punk continues to gun for Paul Heyman.
While AJ Lee’s opponent is still unknown right now for the Diva’s title, it looks like her feud with Kaitlyn has ended and possibly a member of the Total Diva’s cast will get a shot at the belt. There is also a rumored match with the Wyatt Family possibly facing The Usos at “WWE Night of Champions.”
