After the latest Raw results, theres WWE Night of Champions 2013 rumors and speculation leading into the next pay-per-view for World Wrestling Entertainment, as only a few matches have been announced for the card. Among those who will be in action are World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio, Rob Van Dam, CM Punk and Curtis Axel.
The Wrestling Inc site reported on Aug. 26 that there are three matches booked so far for the event, two of which will be championship matches. One of the matches will be Daniel Bryan in a rematch against Randy Orton for the WWE title. Bryan was knocked out by Triple H following his big victory over John Cena at Summerslam, opening the door for Orton to cash in his Money in the Bank contract and pin Bryan to become new champion. On the latest episode of Raw, it was announced that Bryan would get his rematch at Night of Champions.
The other title match came about when Rob Van Dam defeated Alberto Del Rio in a non-title match on Raw. General Manager Brad Maddox said that if RVD won that match, he'd get the title shot at NOC. Currently, Del Rio's former ring announcer, Ricardo Rodriguez, is working with RVD, so he'll likely be in his corner at the pay-per-view.
The only other match known so far involves CM Punk in an elimination handicap match. He'll take on the team of Curtis Axel with Paul Heyman. So it's likely that Punk could eliminate Axel first and then face Heyman. Of course a potential prediction, rumor or spoiler would be that should it come down to that, Brock Lesnar comes out to save the day for his manager, setting up another CM Punk vs. Lesnar battle for Hell in a Cell.
The Wrestling Inc site had a report (via F4WOnline) several days ago where they predicted the other matches that might be on the card. They included a tag team championship match with Big Show and Mark Henry taking on Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, as well as Dolph Ziggler vs. Dean Ambrose for the United States title and A.J. Lee defending her championship against one of the divas from the "Total Divas" show on E! channel. Typically, the pay-per-view involves defense of all the championships from WWE.
WWE Night of Championship 2013 takes place in Detroit, Michigan on Sept. 15 via pay-per-view.
