Fans of Daniel Bryan may not like the recent remarks of Vince McMahon in the WWE Earnings Conference Call on Oct. 31. During the call, McMahon called this year’s “Summerslam” event a failure and pointed his finger at what he believed to be the problem.
The question was about the drop in pay-per-view buys and McMahon simply said that the WWE is an “attraction” business and that success depends on having the right attraction. The main events at “Summerslam” saw Daniel Bryan try to achieve his dream by beating John Cena for the WWE title while CM Punk battled Brock Lesnar in the second big match.
This week’s “WWE Monday Night Raw” was described backstage as a “reset” and what ended up happening was seeing Daniel Bryan and CM Punk removed from their big feuds and placed in a feud with the Wyatt Family.
Paul Heyman has been removed from television and the feud with CM Punk has effectively ended while Big Show looks to be the next in line to battle Randy Orton for the WWE title.
Whether they were really to blame or not, it looks like Bryan and Punk are being pushed down the card after “Summerslam” failed to provide the WWE with the numbers they were hoping for. If Vince McMahon is really blaming the talent for the WWE’s failures at “Summerslam,” the world title opportunities for Bryan and Punk might be a thing of the past.
It remains to be seen whether or not pay-per-view numbers will rise with John Cena and Randy Orton as champions in the WWE again.
