The WWE added another title match to the "Elimination Chamber" pay-per-view on this week's episode of "WWE Smackdown" on Feb. 14. The match is for the Intercontinental Championship and was decided in a qualifying four-way match between Jack Swagger, Rey Mysterio, Mark Henry and Kofi Kingston.
Intercontinental Champion Big E was at ringside doing commentary during the match.
The match was a great one that lasted about 10 minutes before Jack Swagger pulled off the upset by locking Kofi Kingston into the Patriot Lock and getting the big win by submission. Honestly, with Big E as a face and three of the four combatants in the match being faces as well, Swagger was the obvious choice unless the WWE was considering turning Mark Henry bad.
This is the first Intercontinental Championship defense for Big E on television in 2014, which makes Dean Ambrose never defending his U.S. title seem a little less embarrassing. The last time that Big E defended his title was on the final show of 2013 when he beat Fandango.
Dean Ambrose has actually defended his title once in 2014 when he lost to Mark Henry by disqualification last week. Ambrose won't have his title on the line at the "Elimination Chamber" pay-per-view as he will be teaming with The Shield in a six man match against The Wyatt Family.
There is a chance that the tag team titles will be on the line but the match has not been scheduled yet. The rumored contenders for The New Age Outlaws are The Usos.
The other matches on the "Elimination Chamber" card include Batista vs. Alberto Del Rio and the actual Chamber match for the WWE World Championship between Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, John Cena, Christian, Cesaro and Sheamus.
