WWE news: The Rock was supposed to fight Brock Lesnar at 'Wrestlemania 30'

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson did a Twitter question and answer session with fans and someone asked if he was planning to return for "Wrestlemania 30." That is when The Rock delivered some behind-the-scenes WWE news for the fans. According to Rajah.com on Dec. 31, The Rock said he was supposed to fight Brock Lesnar at this year's Wrestlemania.

According to The Rock, the match with Brock Lesnar was something that was planned with Vince McMahon, but The Rock said he won't be back for "Wrestlemania 30" after all. He did leave open the possibility for a return to "Wrestlemania 31."

The original angle was supposed to take place on the "WWE Monday Night Raw" episode after "Wrestlemania 29." Of course, on that show, John Cena beat The Rock and Johnson tore his quad early in the match.

That almost hurt Johnson's Hollywood career, because he was supposed to leave to start shooting his "Hercules" movie after that, but had to rehab his quad. The Rock said that, after the injury, he realized that he needed to slow down and not wrestle when he had big moves coming up to film.

The "WWE Monday Night Raw" episode was supposed to have The Rock in a backstage interview when Brock Lesnar was going to attack him and take him out of action with a beat down. The Rock called Vince McMahon and cancelled the plans, pulling out completely.

With The Rock out of "Wrestlemania 30," the new WWE rumors have Brock Lesnar possibly taking on The Undertaker at the big event.
