WWE news: Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. CM Punk match hinted in interview

Stone Cold Steve Austin will be at WWE "Wrestlemania 30" on Sunday, but no one is sure what his role in the show will be. However, Austin spoke to the Boston Herald on April 4 and made an interesting comment about a possible Steve Austin vs. CM Punk match in the future.

There is always a chance that Austin is just throwing that out there because it sounds like something the fans would like. However, with Austin saying he won't show up at "Wrestlemania 30" unless the WWE has a plan for him, this is an interesting proposition.

Here is what he had to say about a Steve Austin vs. CM Punk match.

“I could get more out of that guy than anybody else walking Planet Earth,” said Austin. “He could have that ultimate ‘Come to Jesus’ meeting with me. Punk’s been around for a long time and he’s a smart guy, but he never stepped into a ... squared circle with the intensity of a guy like Stone Cold Steve Austin.”

That is enough to get any WWE can excited.

Steve Austin and CM Punk have had a similar career. Both men were considered rebels against authority during their careers and both had explosive moments with the WWE in front of and behind the cameras. Both men also walked out on the company in the middle of their contracts because they weren't happy with their place in the company.

A Steve Austin vs. CM Punk match would arguably be one of the best selling matches in the WWE over the last decade, but the chances of it happening are slim. The fact that Austin is actually hinting at it, makes it just a little more interesting.
