Sting recently signed a new PR deal with the WWE, which allows his character to appear in the upcoming WWE 2K15 video game as well as an upcoming DVD release about his career. However, it looks like Sting will be doing more than just licensing his likeness to the WWE. According to PWS on Thursday, Sting showed up at the WWE Comic-Con 2014 panel in full makeup.
Originally, the planned WWE lineup for Comic-Con 2014 was Daniel Bryan, Hulk Hogan, Paul Heyman and Michael Cole. While this was all that was announced to show up, WWE did hint at special surprises for those in attendance. The big surprise was Sting showing up. This was the first time in his career that Sting showed up at an event representing the WWE.
Sting had said before that he was “all in” with the WWE and hinted that he wanted one more match before he retired from active wrestling competition. Sting wants to wrestle Undertaker at “Wrestlemania 31” in California, but the Undertaker has not made a decision yet on whether he is officially retired or not. Undertaker was beaten up badly after his match with Brock Lesnar at “Wrestlemania 30” and had to spend time in the hospital after a major concussion suffered in the match.
However, Sting’s appearance at Comic-Con 2014 is a big sign that he is either finally signed officially with the WWE or is planning to sign soon. The appearance could easily fall under the PR contract he signed since the WWE Comic-Con 2014 was about their Mattel toy line, their WWE 2K15 video game and the WWE Network. Sting’s WWE PR deal would include all three of those platforms.
However, the sign of Sting in full paint at a WWE Comic-Con 2014 table with Hulk Hogan, Daniel Bryan and Paul Heyman was a huge moment. There is no way that Sting doesn’t appear on WWE television sooner rather than later after this huge event.
