There had been WWE rumors ever since the company learned that Daniel Bryan wouldn’t be back in time for “WWE Money in the Bank.” The first rumor was addressed immediately when the Money in the Bank ladder match turned out to be for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. According to Wrestle View on Tuesday, the second WWE rumor also turned out to be true as well when the WWE named a second Money in the Bank ladder match.
The first ladder match has been set up with all the big name money players in the WWE fighting for the titles, which will be hanging above the ring. John Cena, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns and Cesaro will be battling for the titles in that big match.
However, there have always been two ladder matches because there were two titles to get briefcases to fight for. This year, there is only one big title so only one ladder match was involved in the pay-per-view. However, the WWE smartly created a second Money in the Bank ladder match for the popular briefcase angle where the winner gets to cash it in whenever they want over the next year.
The announcement was made by former Shield member Seth Rollins. He not only announced the match, but announced that he is the first man to qualify to compete in it. Just like Randy Orton was given a free pass to the first match, Triple H gave Rollins a free pass to this one. It is unclear who else will be in it, but expect more qualifying matches with names like Dean Ambrose, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler obvious candidates.
The addition of the new match to the “WWE Money in the Bank” pay-per-view was made during the “WWE Smackdown” taping. That show will air this Friday night at 8 p.m. EST on SyFy. The “WWE Money in the Bank” special event airs on June 29 on both the WWE Network and select cable outlets.
