According to an Aug. 22 report from Cageside Seats, SummerSlam fallout continues tonight on SmackDown. The episode, which airs tonight on the SyFy channel, was taped earlier this week in Phoenix, Ariz. Many SummerSlam feuds continued on at SmackDown, in anticipation of next month's Night of Champions pay-per-view.
However, the one semi-fresh feud that opened on SmackDown was between former Shield teammates, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. During an interview with WWE reporter Renee Young, Reigns appears on camera and vows to get revenge on Rollins for what he did to Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam.
Could this mean Reigns and Rollins will start feuding, as the WWE heads into Night of Champions? It's certainly a possibility. Rollins is one of the top heels in the WWE, while Reigns is arguably the second most popular babyface in the company. Rollins and Ambrose might start up their feud again sometime in the near future, but the WWE appears to be moving in a new direction. Elsewhere on SmackDown, Rollins went head-to-head with Jack Swagger, defeating him via count out.
Since Rollins was scripted to collide with Swagger, it seems the WWE is setting them up to start a feud of their own heading into Night of Champions. Currently, the plan seems to be that Reigns will receive a title shot against Brock Lesnar at next year's Wrestlemania, but there's time for him to feud with plenty of superstars before that event goes down.
Before he gets his hands on Lesnar, it appears the WWE will have him feud with Rollins. As for Lesnar, he's not expected to appear at many WWE house shows before Wrestlemania 31. Additionally on the Aug. 22 episode of SmackDown, Rusev demolishes Sin Cara, and The Brotherhood defeats The Wyatt Family. In other action, Reigns edges The Miz, and Natalya defeats Paige.
