When Rob Van Dam returned to the WWE, his contract was a mystery. Some thought it was for 90 days and others thought it might be for a series of 90-day stints. According to PWS on Oct. 7, his first 90 days just ended.
On Sunday, at “Battleground,” RVD lost to Alberto Del Rio by submission in a hardcore match when ADR wrapped a chair around RVD’s arm and made him tap out to the cross arm breaker. The WWE even commented on their website that there were rumors that RVD was planning on taking time off after the loss.
From the sound of that statement, that RVD is taking time off, it sounds like the 90 days and then a break WWE rumors are probably true. What that situation infers is that he will work for 90 straight days and then get a short break to refresh himself and then return another 90 days.
Before coming back to the WWE, Van Dam was in TNA Impact Wrestling, where he said he was not utilized properly. Since returning to the WWE, RVD has been having some of the best matches in years.
There are WWE rumors that Rob Van Dam will show up at the TV taping this week to explain his upcoming absence, but there is no word on how long he will be out and when, or if, he will return to the WWE before the end of the year.
